Cracking the ladder code

I’d been struggling with the balance between magnetic strength as it relates to laddering. Finding the right balance was hard, if the magnets were too strong it would not ladder as well. I think I’ve found the solution. In adjusting the magnet spacing I’ve been able to maintain magnet strength with better ladder-ability. The dynamics were different when I was printing sliders in nylon. The material was very light-weight and this new magnet spacing would not have worked.

Another benefit of the new spacing is that if you want to fidget in a way that makes the slider clicky, I think it’s a little easier. Note that the sliders I make are discrete, they are totally quiet. I’ve designed them so you can use is in a quiet environment and not disturb anyone.

Another observation with the new spacing is when you turn one half of the slider 90 degrees the corners line up. (note: I was never concerned around having corners line up, and I am still not) but if this is something that suits you, you’ll find it pleasing.

There are techniques that will make my sliders clicky. I’ll try to make a video about this sometime soon’ish.
